As we approach the end of another busy term I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the support you have given, both to your child and to the school. EARLY CLOSURE
The Ministry of Education, Sport, Arts and Culture has announced a new closure date for the 2nd term, THURSDAY 26 JULY, instead of Thursday 9 August. This means school will be closing 2 weeks earlier than anticipated.
The new date for the start of Term 3 is now TUESDAY 4 SEPTEMBER i.e. one week earlier. The end date for the 3rd term remains THURSDAY 6 DECEMBER

CAR PARK
Please drive responsibly in the car park. Be considerate of others. Do not double park, or park in others. Do not leave any valuables in your car, as the school will not be held responsible for any loss of property. We also ask you to show respect to the security guards who are only doing their jobs - safe guarding our children and the school.

NO CHILDREN ARE TO WALK THROUGH THE STAFF CAR PARK AT ANY TIME. PLEASE ENSURE THEY USE THE PATHS

SPORTING EVENTS
We have had another successful term where sports are concerned. Our teams have done well.
Chess Our chess team has won 4 matches and lost 1 this term – our first loss in 6 years.
Boys Hockey
Overall the Senior Boys played 21 matches with 8 wins, 8 losses and 5 draws. Well done to Paul Mutsaka, Ronak Patel, Dhruv Patel and Sebastian Rodrigues who were selected to represent Harare Schools.
The Junior Boys played 26 games with 19 wins, 5 losses and 2 draws.
Girls Hockey A very busy term with 108 games played with 26 wins, 26 draws and 56 losses. All the girls have improved tremendously. Special mention should be made of Mitchel Masvikeni, Cathrine Nyangu and Chikomborero Sibanda who were selected to represent Harare Schools.
Soccer A big thank you to Alan Johnson and his coaches for their assistance this term. Overall the boys played 19 matches, winning 8, losing 7 and drawing 4.
Netball The girls played 17 matches, wining 9, losing 6 and drawing 2.

CORETALKS
This is the system used by us to communicate with you via sms. Very often these messages go out after hours. If you happen to receive an sms at 9pm, it does not mean that there is someone in the office waiting to read your reply.

CHOIR NEWS
Our Senior Choir was invited to the Watershed School Choir Concert where we shared the stage with other students from Lendy Park, Watershed, Avondale and the Grange. As a result of our performance we have been invited to join the Watershed College Choir Tour to Argentina in 2019!

The Junior Choir participated in the EPSA Combined Schools Choir Concert at Lusitania Primary School. They performed to a hall packed to capacity. The concert was covered by ZTV and will be aired on the “Young, Gifted and Talented” programme.

CHARITY INITIATIVE
In keeping with a long-held Twin Rivers tradition, we will once again be supporting a charity this year. We have chosen to assist under-privileged pupils in need of school essentials (and a Christmas treat) through the “School Box Challenge”.
Next term, please could the children give their class teacher the following:
Grade 0 - 2 boxes wax crayons and a packet of sweets
Grade 1 - 3 pencils, 3 rubbers and a packet of sweets
Grade 2 - 3 sharpeners, 3 rulers and a packet of sweets
Grade 3 - 5 lined exercise books and a packet of sweets
Grade 4 - 3 blue pens and a packet of sweets
Grade 5 - 5 maths exercise books and a packet of sweets
Grade 6 - 1 counter book and a packet of sweets
Grade 7 - 1 counter book and a packet of sweets

TERM’S NOTICE
Remember that the school requires one full term’s notice of withdrawal in writing to the Head, as per your enrolment contract. Should the requisite notice not be given, the parent(s)/guardian will be liable to pay one term’s fee in lieu of notice. You may give the school provisional notice until the move is confirmed, to avoid being penalized.
