Dear Parents and Guardians

It is great to see your children back at school and a special welcome to all you new parents and children. I trust that you will find your relationship with our school a symbiotic and richly rewarding experience.

You will by now  have all the various circulars, calendars and time-tables and you will no doubt be familiarizing yourselves with all that pertains to your particular child/children.

Grade 3 Orientation + Meet-The -Teacher Meetings

It was very encouraging to see so many of you attending these important meetings as it sets the trend and bodes well for the smooth running of the term and year ahead. Well done for taking the time to be here.

School Calendar

As you can see we have quite a full calendar of events this term but sadly (happily ! ) I suspect that many of the cricket matches will be rained off, partly due to our position in a virtual vlei and our black clay soil. Having said that we desperately need the rain and can’t complain !
If you suspect that the school has had rain please phone the office to check if sport is cancelled for your child as some sports may be able to carry on unless it is actually raining. Thanks so much for bearing with us as this can be a frustrating exercise.

Traffic at Drop-off and Collection Times

Well done for being so patient and understanding. The worst is over as many will be staying for afternoon activities from here on. Please remember that the safety of the children is of PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE so please drive with extreme care. Many of the children are so small they are virtually unsighted. Thank you.

Excitement of Being Back

On a brighter note, it has been wonderful to witness the joy and excitement amongst both the parents and the children when greeting each other after the school holidays. This camaraderie and friendship is so important in life today and long may it last.

Communication

Please keep lines of communication open at all times. If you have a query on the sports side, see your child’s coach and if in the classroom, see your child’s teacher.

Examination Results

We were very pleased with our Zimsec and Cambridge results and we are proud of the efforts of our children and their teachers. At first glance they may be slightly lower than we were hoping for but we need to acknowledge that one child failing drops ones marks from 100% to 98,75 and unfortunately we had some children joining us in the final year not having covered any of the work being tested. Having said that they did remarkably well under the circumstances.

Well done to our grade 7s for last year and I have no doubt we will keep up this high standard this year.
As I write it is pouring with rain again ( ! ) but here’s to a great term and year ahead for us all.

Kind regards
