Circular 3, Term 2, 2019

Tuesday, 4 June, 2019

Dear Parents

The term is shooting by and we are well into our work, music, clubs and sports and by all accounts we are doing really well in all of our pursuits.

I trust that you are following our results and seeing some of the pics on our Facebook page!

Our Grade 7s are studying hard for the common entrance exams to the high schools of their choice and we wish them all the best in that regard. The interested Grade 6 and 7 children had a very informative talk yesterday by the Rector (Headmaster) of Peterhouse Boys and the Headmistress of Peterhouse Girls School and gave them a good insight into the schools.

Various camps and cooking competitions are going to be enjoyed soon by our Girl Guides and Brownies and our Cubs and Scouts. On the sporting side there are a huge amount of matches to come and much fun and excitement for all.

Talking of fun and excitement, the Sponsored Walk and Family Fun Day is coming up later this term and you will be hearing more about this under separate cover. I know that you will come and support your children and your school and help us to raise much-needed funds.

School fee collections
On the subject of much-needed funds I urge all of you who still owe money on your school fees (apart from those on payment plans) to come in and pay as a matter of urgency as we are fast approaching half term and tough decisions are going to have to be made soon.

No payments of fees in advance for next term will be accepted in RTGS ahead of official invoices having been decided upon.

Kids in the infants’ playground
Please note that the playground equipment is out of bounds. Too many kids are being allowed to play on it before school is out. Not only are some of them unsupervised but it is very disturbing for the classes still working.

Please note that the area between the hall and the classroom blocks is not for Grade 1 and 2 parents. Please will Grade 1 and 2 parents only collect their children from the sports field side of the hall.

Parental Support
On a more positive note it is great to see so much parental support at our matches, both at home and away, particularly at the recent Gateway Festivals. Keep it up as it makes such a difference to your children and their performance!

Eats at matches
As you are aware we have one lady trying to do all the eats for our home matches. This is not only very onerous but it is expensive for the school. Whilst Emma does a great job here, please could I ask you if you would consider bringing a suitable plate of eats of any size just to help Emma and the school. It would be very much appreciated.

CHISZ Heads Conference
I will be away at the Heads’ Conference next week and will be back on Friday but I know that you will be in excellent hands!

Half term Thursday 20 June – Tuesday 25 June
I am sure that I don’t have to remind you that half term is coming up. Please note that school ends on the Thursday at 12:30. It will be appreciated if you collect your children by 1:30 after which there will be no supervision. School will restart as normal on Tuesday 25 June.

It just remains for me to thank you so much for your support so far this term and I trust that you will get at least some quality time with your children over half term.

Yours faithfully

M. N. MACKENZIE
HEADMASTER
